Safire Rhymes with Satire: Reading Political Farces

Last month, political satirist and former New York Times columnist, William Safire released the updated and expanded version of his book Safire’s Political Dictionary just in time for the 2008 US Presidential elections. The book’s first publication in 1968 merely demonstrates just how long Safire has been in the political realm.

In fact, Safire was once a senior speechwriter for Richard Nixon and later his writing in New York Times would help him to earn a Pulitzer Prize in 1978. Clearly this man knows his politics! And hopefully you were able to check this author out on the Daily Show April 2nd to see him talk about this book.
