It has finally arrived: Election Day 2008.  We’ve all been waiting for months — who will win, who will lose and who will be the next politician to have a regular satirical role on Saturday Night Live?

By the end of the day, we’ll know who’s leading us into the next decade (the 2010’s that is…) and hopefully we’ll all be happy!

While we wait for the results, let’s go over some fun things at Tower.com that can help make the day go by faster, and also educational!

The Books 2008 Election Preview written by Daniel M. Shea and Bryan Reece who aim to help integrate campaign material into teaching curriculum.  This 92 page full-color book includes photos, graphics and editorials from the NY Times.  These books are the perfect keepsake for this election.

Speaking of keepsakes and history…check out Presidential Elections, 1789-2004 or Encyclopedia of American Political Parties and Elections

The FilmsUncounted: The New Math of American Elections, directed by David Earnhardt looks at how the potential election fraud of the past years and the possible outcome of the 2008 election.  This film has been labeled “explosive” and “controversial” but Earnhardt does help to shed light on the fact that greater citizen awareness and involvement is the only way to change our current state of affairs.

Election - This satirical comedy released in 1999 features Tracy Flick (Reese Witherspoon) a ‘perfect’ American high schooler who aims to win the school election.  Her teacher, Mr. McAllister (Matthew Broderick) sees Tracy’s malicious ways and finds another student who is willing to run against in the school election.  Like they always say, high school is just the microcosm of the real world!

Election 2000, this CNN release charts the 36 days before the 2000 election — the presidential race between George W. Bush and Al Gore.  Watch this pre-9/11, pre-economic recession and pre-environmental global warming awareness (a campaign Al Gore would later spearhead) world and see how much has changed in eight years.
