Hot New Video Release: No Country For Old Men
March 14, 2008 by S C
The Academy Awards told us one thing this year: No Country For Old Men is a movie worth watching! The film walked away with Best Director, Best Supporting Actor, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Motion Picture of the Year. The Coen Brothers deliver yet another original film – this time we travel to the desert terrain of Texas, where a lone hunter has discovered a suitcase of money. Of course, there is no such thing as easy money, and this found drug money is heavily sought after by the incredibly creepy and will-stop-at-nothing, Anton Chigurh (Javier Bardem). Tommy Lee Jones as local sheriff Ed Tom Bell tries to piece together this ill-fated adventure and it’s only a matter of time until we figure out how this will all end.

Kool Herc – Back on the Block
March 14, 2008 by S C
DJ Kool Herc — known as the father of Hip Hop for using break-beats and toasting in the streets of the Bronx in early 70’s - recently won the battle of the block as he was brought in last summer to draw attention to the prospect of losing the building where hip hop was born, 1520 Sedgwick Avenue, a place where the NY native threw many parties in the community room back in 1973, parties that lead to neighbourhood parks, basements and nightclubs. 1520 Sedgwick Avenue situated in Bronx, New York, is credited as being the birthplace of Hip Hop, is no longer on the bidding block and will remain a landmark in history while keeping the hundreds of tenants that have helped and preserved this culture in the building.

On the Author’s Trail…Into the Light
March 6, 2008 by Romy
John Lerma, MD, is widely known for his compassionate and loving care of hundreds of terminally-ill patients as well as his tenure as the inpatient medical director for the internationally renowned Medical Center Hospice of Houston, Texas. His most recent book, Into the Light, published in November 2007, shares real life accounts of angelic visits, encounters with afterlife, and other Pre-Death experiences that Lerma has bore witness to over the course of his extensive practice. Lerma has become an unlikely hero for both the faithful and skeptical, with his down-to-earth demeanor and unbridled sense of compassion.
Since the inpatient unit is located in the heart of the largest medical center in the world, Lerma worked closely with MD Anderson hospital, the leading cancer institute in the world in research and teaching. After obtaining a degree in pharmacy at The University of Texas at Austin, he entered medical school at the University of Texas San Antonio and years later finished his training in Internal Medicine. Over the last ten years he has focused his career in the field of hospice and palliative medicine. While working at the Medical Center in Houston, he was involved with teaching hospice and palliative medicine to medical students, residents, geriatric, oncology and palliative fellows from several institutions including but not limited to, Baylor College of Medicine, The University of Texas Medical School, and MD Anderson Cancer Institute.
Here is a little more information about this amazing read:
Despite our advancements in science and medicine, death remains one of human civilization’s most glorious mysteries. A handful of doctors have written books on phenomena such as near-death experiences, but research and data is scarce on pre-death experiences.
Because of this lack of information, Dr. John Lerma has devoted his career to compiling anecdotal and scientific research on pre-death experiences from the countless of terminally-ill patients he lovingly cares for as a doctor and director at The Medical Center of Houston, Texas.
Now, in the groundbreaking book, Into The Light, Dr. Lerma shares his valuable research and guidance in 16 inspirational stories of children and adults confronting their deaths through the comforting visions of divine beings.
By presenting the mysterious visions, synchronicities, and angelic conversations terminally ill patients encounter, Dr. Lerma shows how knowledge of death can ease the pain and fear as we prepare to enter into the light.
In this book you will learn:
* The exhilarating and calming elements of pre-death experiences.
* Healing during the dying process.
* The difference between hallucinations and visions.
* Self-forgiveness and self-love as the key to a joyous life and a peaceful transition
The mystical experiences described here delve into: the creation of the universe, past and future extinctions, dark angels and white angels, selfless suffering and its effect on humanity, free will as the vital ingredient to create on earth and in heaven, and many more incredible revelations. The poignant stories in Into the Light will leave you feeling uplifted in faith, hope, and love.
